CSYO aims to reinforce excellence in students and challenge them to expand their own boundaries through the highest level of music performance and collaboration. Ensembles rehearse weekly, perform throughout the year, and receive access to the world class instructional resources of the CSO, including coaching from CSO musicians and leadership from CSO Assistant Conductor Gene Chang.
Meghan Berneking
Established in partnership with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra’s Multicultural Awareness Council (MAC) and in recognition of Mr. Johns’ (the CSO’s Assistant Principal cellist who holds the Karl & Roberta Schlachter Family Chair) over 40 years of service to the CSO and the community, the Award funded Mr. Abdullah’s tuition to participate in the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra.
The Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra (CSYO) Nouveau Chamber Players program nurtures young African American string players in grades 7 through 12 and has been doing so now for ten years.
Project 440 (P440) is a national program that partners with youth orchestras around the country to provide young musicians with the building blocks to become musical ambassadors in their communities.
