The CSO presents educator workshops to support teachers’ work using music to affect learning and creativity in students. Sessions can include arts integration, instrumental pedagogy, conducting, and other topics. All sessions are FREE to educators and may be eligible to earn continuing education units (CEUs).

Educator Workshop: World Instruments & Roots of Rhythm with Dr. Craig Woodson

Join in the fun at this interactive 4-hour educator workshop with ethnomusic expert, Dr. Craig Woodson. Throughout the workshop, we will learn how to make 10 different world music instruments for the classroom and explore Dr. Woodson’s Roots of Rhythm world drumming curriculum. Walk away with free curriculum handouts and an assortment of student-friendly DIY instruments! This workshop pairs well with attendance to our Young People's Concert: The Beat Goes On, but all teachers are welcome to attend! Educator Appreciation Night at the CSO

Educators and a guest are invited to attend our annual Educator Appreciation night before the Bronfman plays Brahms CSO concert. Educators who RSVP will receive 2 complimentary tickets to the concert and admittance to our pre-concert reception with drinks, small bites and music on us! RSVP is required through our online form. RSVP by November 21st.
As a social event, this is not eligible for CEUs.
Educator Workshop: Conducting Master Class with JMR
Monday, February 4, 2019 at 6:30 PM, Sycamore High School
Learn from Cincinnati’s own Pops Conductor, John Morris Russell in a conducting master class where educators take the podium! With the CSYO Concert Orchestra on the stage, participants will practice their conducting with live coaching and feedback from JMR. Rehearsed repertoire will include musical excerpts from The Firebird. Free, RSVP is encouraged or required if wanting to conduct, dinner provided, CEU eligible.
Conducting spots are full, but plenty of space remains to observe the workshop. Music will be available to conducting participants a month prior to the workshop.
