Mission: To Seek and Share Inspiration
October 20-21, 2018
TELEMANN: Don Quixote Suite
CHRISTIAN COLBERG: Viola Concerto
R. STRAUSS: Don Quixote
What’s interesting about this concert:
• A program inspired by the hero of Miguel de Cervantes’ epic Spanish novel.
• Having lost his mind reading chivalrous romances, a nobleman assumes the persona of Don Quixote de la Mancha and, along with sidekick Sancho Panza, sets on quests for glory.
• Richard Strauss’ work employs cello and viola soloists to represent the title hero and his wise-cracking squire, along with full orchestra and wind machine.
• Puerto Rican composer, and CSO Principal Viola, Christian Colberg, performs his own Viola Concerto.
This concert is part of Series 3.
