Bronfman Plays Brahms

November 30-December 1, 2018

Program and Description

BRAHMS: Variations on a Theme of Haydn
HAYDN: Symphony No. 44, Trauersinfonie
BRAHMS: Piano Concerto No. 1

What’s interesting about this concert:

• Brahms' First Piano Concerto was born in turmoil as his friend Robert Schumann was dying and as love filled his heart for Robert's wife, Clara.
• No concerto before had been so directly emotional and impassioned—all this from a composer just 25 years old.
• Experience the artistry of Yefim Bronfman, a pianist "who can seemingly play anything" (The New York Times).

This concert is part of Series 2.

Concerts for the curious: Guest-curated surprises surround your experience.
