A Letter from the President | February-March 2017
The Cincinnati sound is known and celebrated around the world, and thanks to tremendous support, the Orchestra departs for the first of two international tours this year on March 14.
One of our core values as an organization is to be Cincinnati’s ambassador, committed to demonstrating that this city is a center of culture and excellence. This is important for many reasons, not the least of which is to attract talent, visitors and businesses to Greater Cincinnati, and with that, we are aligned strategically with our partners and supporters from ArtsWave to be a more competitive region, putting Cincinnati on the map.
The CSO’s upcoming performances on March 17 in Hong Kong, March 19 in Beijing, March 22 in Shanghai and the Cincinnati Pops performances on March 23 in Shanghai, March 25 in Tainan and March 26 in Taipei will all be extraordinary and represent the best of our region.
The Orchestra’s international touring in 2017 is made possible by Tom and Dee Stegman and the estate of Chuck Yeiser, and the major underwriter for the Pops appearances in Asia is Edyth B. Lindner. These major underwriters are also joined by the following supporters of the Asia tour: Susan Friedlander; Tom Garber and Family; Flo and Ron Koetters; The Harold C. Schott Foundation/Francie and Tom Hiltz, Trustees; and Western Pacific Holdings.
These funders are making it possible for the Orchestra to continue a great legacy as Cincinnati’s Ambassador, and there’s more to the Orchestra’s touring story in March. The CSO is honored to perform on March 10 at Miami University for the first time in 20 years as part of Miami’s Performing Arts Series. We are always proud to represent Cincinnati!
