Mission: to seek and share inspiration

Stories in Concert - Symphonie fantastique

September 27

Program and Description

In this new, casual and inviting concert experience conceived by Music Director Louis Langrée, hear excerpts from a major work performed live by the Orchestra while Louis shares the compelling story of the composer's life and art, illuminating the world that shaped the music's creation. Then move to the edge of your seat and experience the entire work with your newfound perspective. Here is what we will explore together:

- The strange, brilliant and provocative character that is composer Hector Berlioz.
- Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique: a movement-by movement journey, from “Dreams—Passions” to “March to the Scaffold” and “Dream of a Witches’ Sabbath," which you heard at LUMENOCITY 2015.
- Themes of obsession, an earth-shattering orchestration, opium and the sound of a guillotine.

With accessible ticket pricing (adults from $25 in advance—subscribers save more!—and students ages 6-17 only $10), the Stories in Concert series is perfect for newbies looking for those “a-ha” moments and aficionados who want to develop a deeper appreciation of classical music.

When purchasing your concert tickets you can also add a pre-concert brunch at KAZE (1400 Vine Street) for $15 per person. Enjoy brunch and a concert in historic Over-the-Rhine!
