Mission: To Seek and Share Inspiration

UNLIMITED COLOR: Bolero + Rouse Premiere

October 18-19, 2019

Program and Description

RAVEL: Bolero
LALO: Symphonie espagnole
Christopher ROUSE: Symphony No. 6 [World Premiere, CSO Commission]

What’s interesting about this concert:

• Playing Bolero’s famous melody for a friend, Ravel asked, “Don’t you think this theme has a certain insistent quality?”
• Be there as history is made with the much-anticipated world premiere of Christopher Rouse’s Symphony No. 6.
• Guy Braunstein, the youngest-ever appointed concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic, makes his CSO artist-in-residence debut.
• Lalo’s Spanish showpiece premiered around the time as Bizet’s Carmen and inspired Tchaikovsky to write his own violin concerto.

This concert is part of Series 1.
