Mission: To Seek and Share Inspiration
January 24-25, 2020
RAVEL: Pavane pour une infante défunte
Unsuk CHIN: Cello Concerto
SCHUBERT: Symphony in C-major, The Great
What’s interesting about this concert:
• Like the final symphonies of Beethoven, Mahler and Dvořák, Schubert’s is an awe-inspiring revelation.
• Schubert sketched his Great symphony just one year after Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy.”
• Guest artist Alban Gerhardt performs a concerto written for him by Unsuk Chin, a composer who “has a knack for binding together seemingly irreconcilable extremes” (The New Yorker).
This concert is part of Series 1.
