Petrouchka + Tchaikovsky

November 8-9, 2019

Program and Description

Julia WOLFE: Fountain of Youth [CSO Co-Commission]
TCHAIKOVSKY: Violin Concerto
STRAVINSKY: Petrouchka

What’s interesting about this concert:

• Tchaikovsky’s dazzling Concerto, once thought unplayable, is a rendezvous with some of the composer’s most moving and memorable melodies.
• Stravinsky’s Petrouchka is a virtuosic musical tale evocative of Pinocchio.
• Julia Wolfe won the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Anthracite Fields, a work about early-20th Century Pennsylvania coal-miners and their families.

This concert is part of Series 2.
