Season Finale: Langrée Conducts Mozart + Mahler

May 10-11, 2019

Program and Description

MOZART: Violin Concerto No. 5, Turkish
MAHLER: Symphony No. 5

What’s interesting about this concert:

• The exuberant Turkish Violin Concerto, written when the ambitious composer was just 19 years old.
• A study in expression, Mahler’s music explores strong and disparate emotions, often sharply juxtaposed.
• The Fifth is a fitting finale to the 18-19 season. The opening trumpet solo gives way to the full forces of the CSO, attending to Mahler’s vision that a symphony “must embrace everything.”

This concert is part of Series 1.
