Local Student Musicians to be Featured at Carnegie Hall

anchor

The young musical talent in Cincinnati is off the charts and the teachers who mentor them play a critical role in these students’ musical and personal success. For more than two decades, Marion Peraza de Webb has been a force when it comes to nurturing the musicians and citizens of tomorrow. Marion, who is also the founding teacher of the CSO Nouveau Chamber Players, is perhaps best known in the music community for her own music education organization, Peraza Music Workshop. Marion leads this Cincinnati- based studio offering individual lessons, group classes, ensembles, and music theory classes. Dedicated to their community, Peraza Music Workshop students and faculty give outreach concerts at venues ranging from the Cincinnati Art Museum, Music Hall, and LUMENOCITY to retirement homes throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area.

The Peraza Music Workshop Ensemble, a chamber orchestra led by Mrs. de Webb has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall on March 5, 2017.  This prestigious invitation tops an impressive list of honors.  In 2014, their winning ensemble garnered all top awards: Outstanding Orchestra Award, Gold Level Award, and Adjudicator’s Award at the World Strides Festival of Gold in Chicago. These honors earned the group both a return performance to Chicago in 2015, and an invitation to the Festival of Gold in Washington D.C. in 2016.

In their performances at Chicago Orchestra Hall (2015) and subsequent performance at Strathmore Hall in Washington D.C. (2016), Peraza Music Workshop Ensemble again earned the highest scores of all participating groups from all over the country. Composed of players whose ages range from 10-15.years old, they were also the youngest group to participate in each festival all three years.

“While I am of course proud of my students, I think Carnegie Hall is quite a distinctive achievement from a local group. Fourteen of the 22 members of the Peraza Music Workshop are also members of the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestras, and 3 of them are members of the CSO Nouveau Chamber Players!” said Mrs. De Webb.

Congratulations to these students and Marion Peraza de Webb on this great accomplishment!
