Telarc Brings Home Two Grammy Awards for Elgar/Britten Recording by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Paavo Järvi

CINCINNATI—Telarc International, the Cleveland-based record label with which the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Cincinnati Pops Orchestra have a recording contract, announced this week that it was honored by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards on February 11 with two awards in the classical field. Telarc engineer Michael Bishop won “Best Engineered Album, Classical,” for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra/Paavo Järvi recording of Elgar: Enigma Variations; Britten: The Young Person’s Guide To The Orchestra, Four Sea Interludes. For “Producer of the Year, Classical,” Elaine Martone won for five albums including the CSO’s Elgar/Britten recording.

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra has 39 available recordings on the Telarc label, including the recently released Rachmaninoff Symphony No. 2, Scherzo, Dances from Aleko. The Cincinnati Pops has 83 available recordings on the Telarc label, including Russian Nights, which was released earlier this month.
