Cincinnati's Premier Summer Concert
Venues
Riverbend
Music Center, owned and operated by the Cincinnati Symphony
Orchestra, is the region's premier outdoor concert facility
and ranks 15th nationally in total ticket sales. Since opening
to a sellout crowd at a Cincinnati Pops Orchestra concert
on July 4, 1984, this state-of-the-art facility has offered
first class entertainment to music lovers of all ages. Riverbend has two stages: The Hulbert Taft, Jr. Center for the Performing
Arts, J. Ralph Corbett Pavilion (which has attracted
national attention for its post-modernist design by architect
Michael Graves) and the new National City Pavilion, scheduled to open in May 2008.
Riverbend Music Center is the summer home of the Cincinnati
Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Pops in addition to
contemporary concerts by the biggest stars in the entertainment
industry. The orchestra performs two classical, five Pops
concerts and a Fourth of July show at Riverbend annually.
From the lawn at Riverbend, patrons can get a closeup view
of the performers on stage, thanks to live video images telecast
on the large Chilivision screens, sponsored by Skyline Chili.
An upgraded sound system also provides excellent sound for
lawn patrons. Children age 12 and younger are admitted free
to the lawn for all Cincinnati Pops and Cincinnati Symphony
Orchestra concerts at Riverbend, thanks to the support of
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc.
